On Sunday 1st October Andy from Open Doors spoke about opposition to the Kingdom through the suffering of the persecuted parts of the worldwide church.
On 17th September we were joined by our good friend Chris Justice
On Sunday 10th September, Andrew started a new series on the Kingdom of God by looking at the Gospel of the Kingdom from Matthew 4: “Jesus went throughout Galilee, teaching in their synagogues, proclaiming the good news of the kingdom, and healing every disease and illness among the people.”
During the summer of 2017 we had a special visit from Colin Pye, one of our regional ministers. He spoke from Joshua chapter 3 about the step of faith which the Israelites took when they crossed the Jordan. Colin reminded us that this account has fresh meaning for every generation. He encouraged us…
Our mission: “To go, to win, to grow – making disciples of Jesus” Our vision: “To be a fruitful community which is rooted in God’s love; is faithful to God’s word; is equipped by God’s Spirit; to share the good news of Jesus with the people of Seer Green and beyond.”
After a break in this sermon series, firstly during the refurbishment, and then for Easter and Pentecost, we returned to our series on our mission and vision. On 25th June, at the end of this series, it was lovely to welcome back Chris Justice from Hope Church in Beaconsfield who spoke from Psalm 51: “Create in me a clean heart, O God, and renew a right spirit within me.”
On 18th June, we were delighted to welcome back Jon Bishop who is currently Children and Youth Minister at Croxley Green Baptist Church. Jon grew up in our church, became a Christian, and for a while ran our youth group. He spoke from Hebrews 11 and 12 about how we need to encourage each other, get serious about our faith, and not give up.
On 11th June, having followed the account from Passover via Ascension to Pentecost, we paused to consider what we had covered and to consolidate. Gill Roberts led us to consider a series of questions around the theme of “are we ready and prepared for God to change us?”
On 4th June, the day of Pentecost, Andrew spoke about the first Pentecost: about how the Holy Spirit filled the early church to empower it to expand and grow, and about how the Holy Spirit still works in the same way in our lives and our church today.
