Sermons from April 2018
On 29th April Chris Justice continued our short series looking at the Holy Spirit, speaking on the metaphor of the Holy Spirit as living water.
Reading from Acts chapter 1, Andrew spoke about the time between Resurrection Sunday and Pentecost, which is the time for preparing for the coming of the Holy Spirit. He went onto talk about the imagery of the Holy Spirit as the breath of God.
Due to technical challenges the sermon on 15th April was not recorded. In its place, here are some notes of the topics which Andrew covered. Andrew started by reminding us of the “Mission shaped church” series we have been following since January. On 8th April Tim spoke from Luke 24, the well known account of the encounter with Jesus on the Emmaus Road, and drew parallels with our own encounters with Jesus on our journey through life.
On Easter Sunday, which was also April Fools day, Andrew spoke about the foolishness of the Cross from 1 Corinthians chapter 1: “For the word of the cross is folly to those who are perishing, but to us who are being saved it is the power of God.”
