Sermons on 1 Corinthians
On 20th September Louise spoke from 1 Corinthians 16: “Keep alert, stand firm in your faith, be courageous, be strong. Let all you do be done in love”. She used this to illustrate the marks of a mission-shaped church.
Continuing our theme of “where do I fit”, on 12th July we discussed Paul’s writing on the body in 1 Corinthians 12.
On 14th June we had two parallel meetings: a bible study and discussion on spiritual gifts; and a service and talk on the same subject. This is a recording of Chris’ talk, starting with a reading from 1 Corinthians 12, verses 1-11.
On Sunday 1st September we started to draw together the teaching we have had on the Holy Spirit over the last few months. We spent the morning sharing testimonies of the work of the Holy Spirit, interspersed with Andrew answering questions about the Holy Spirit.
On Easter Sunday, which was also April Fools day, Andrew spoke about the foolishness of the Cross from 1 Corinthians chapter 1: “For the word of the cross is folly to those who are perishing, but to us who are being saved it is the power of God.”
Following on from our Advent series when we considered all the characteristics of Jesus expressed in Colossians 1 v15-27, we moved on to start a new course at the beginning of January 2018. But we started where we left off with Colossians 1 v28: “He is the one we proclaim…”, and moving onto…
