The Kingdom of God

For Autumn 2017, we are looking at the Kingdom of God and asking “what is the Kingdom of God, and what part are we called to play in building it here?”

The most recent sermons appear first.

On the weekend of 25th and 26th November, Andy Bannister of The Solas Centre for Public Christianity came to lead two days of teaching on “Going boldly…”

On the Saturday, he led a seminar on “How to talk about Jesus without looking like an idiot”

On the Sunday, he spoke from 1 Peter chapter 3: “Always be prepared to give an answer to everyone who asks you to give the reason for the hope that you have.”

On Sunday 19th November, Chris Justice came to speak about a topic which is often closely linked to prayer: fasting.

On Sunday 5th November, Andrew spoke about the importance of prayer: we are in a spiritual battle and we need to pray the Kingdom in.

On Sunday 29th October, Danny Webster from the Evangelical Alliance spoke about what would a kingdom kind of society look like?

On Sunday 22nd October, Chris Justice continued the theme of the Kingdom of God, and spoke about worship from Romans 12: “Therefore, I urge you, brothers and sisters, in view of God’s mercy, to offer your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and pleasing to God – this is your true and proper worship.”

On Sunday 15th October Andrew picked up on our recent harvest theme, and spoke about the great Jewish Festival of Tabernacles. In particular he covered two of Jesus’ great sayings as recounted in John 7 and 8: “I am the Light of the World“; “Let anyone who is thirsty come to me and drink. Whoever believes in me, as Scripture has said, rivers of living water will flow from within them.”

On Sunday 1st October Andy Worthington from Open Doors spoke about opposition to the Kingdom through the suffering of the persecuted parts of the worldwide church.

On Sunday 17th September our good friend Chris Justice spoke on “how do we seek the Kingdom of God?”

On Sunday 10th September, Andrew started by looking at the Gospel of the Kingdom from Matthew 4: “Jesus went throughout Galilee, teaching in their synagogues, proclaiming the good news of the kingdom, and healing every disease and illness among the people.”

This will be the full series, plenty to look forward to:
