Belonging

Belonging

We are an open and friendly church, and everyone is welcome to join us for our times of worship and study with no further commitment.

As a Baptist Church we do have a formal membership structure by which individual Christians can enter into a more committed relationship with other members of the church. If you would like to know more about what this entails, please fill in the form on the contact page.

As a Baptist Church we practice baptism by full immersion whereby an individual who has made a commitment to Jesus is encouraged, in obedience to what the Bible teaches, to be baptised in water (we have a small pool in the floor at the front of the church). This is a practice that goes back to the very beginning of the Christian faith and is a time of great joy and celebration for our community.

We celebrate Communion (also known as The Lord’s Supper or The Eucharist) once a month during one of our morning services or at Sunday small groups. This is when we use bread and wine to remember what Jesus did for us on the cross. Members are expected to make this a regular part of their worship life.

We are entirely self-supporting financially. We receive no money from any central organisation. There is no obligation on anyone to give money. However, if you would like to, please either make your offering in the collection bag which is available each Sunday, or talk to Barry Richardson or fill in the form on the contact page.

Finance is only one way in which people contribute to the life and work of the church. As someone seeks to walk with us more deeply in membership we encourage them to discover and use their natural and spiritual gifts in the life of the church. Every person is important. Every person brings something.
