We are a Baptist Church, meeting at Woodpond Close in Seer Green.
We are an active lively church, and you can read about some of the things we are involved in throughout this website. In addition to our life and work in Seer Green, we also support mission societies working elsewhere in the UK and overseas, and you can read about that here.
Although every Baptist Church is autonomous, self governing and self financing we are part of the union of Baptist Churches known as The Baptist Union of Great Britain. BUGB is made up of regions and we are part of the Central Baptist Association so have links with other Baptist Churches in our geographical area. We have also developed very strong links with the Anglican Church in the village, Holy Trinity, and enjoy doing lots of things together throughout the year such as joint services on special occasions like Remembrance Sunday, joint meetings for Bible study and prayer during Lent, and joint work for families and children including a large, annual summer Holiday Club.
Our pastor is Andrew McCausland.
Andrew has been the Pastor of Seer Green Baptist Church since September 2016. He trained at Spurgeon’s College in South London (1993 to 1997) and has served as Associate Minister of Seaford Baptist Church in East Sussex (1993 to 1999), Chaplain and Centre Manager of Lee Abbey Christian Community in North Devon (1999 to 2006), and as Senior Minister of Minehead Baptist Church in West Somerset (2006 to 2016). Before training in the Baptist Ministry Andrew had a career in Hotel Management. He is married to Denise and they have three adult children. As well as having general leadership responsibility for the church he has specific oversight for the Children, Youth and Families Ministry of the Church.
Serving alongside Andrew is the Leadership Team of the Church (known as Deacons):
Barry is married to Janice. They have 2 children and 3 grandchildren. They live in Seer Green and have been attending Seer Green Baptist Church since 1986 when they were baptised. Barry started his working life as a manufacturing engineer, then as a Technical Director before becoming self-employed in 1992. Janice was an infant teacher. Barry is the church Treasurer with oversight of the day to day financial dealings of the church.
David is married to Linda and they have two grown up children and one grandchild. They have been members of the church for 18 years. David became a Christian at the age of nineteen. He has had a long career in business from which he has recently semi-retired. David chairs the Leadership Team meetings and the Church Members Meetings for the Church, and is also responsible for overseeing the long-term financial dealings of the church.
Geoffrey is married to Rosemary. They have three grown-up children. Rosemary is part of the worship leading team. They live in Wycombe and have attended Seer Green Baptist Church for 30 years. Geoffrey became a Christian at the age of seven and he and Rosemary worked in Ghana, starting a literacy programme for a previously unwritten language and translating the New Testament. Geoffrey chairs a small team of members who are responsible for the interface between the church and the community (including the website).
Gill is married to Clive and they have lived in Seer Green for 40 years. Originally from the Midlands, Gill was baptised at 17, having discovered that Jesus is real! A primary teacher, she used that training in leading women’s meetings and small groups. A course at London Bible College helped in developing her role overseeing Fresh Horizons and the Pastoral Care within the church. She also sits on the the Baptist Union Retreat Group and is part of the team that organises retreats for them.
Mike (with his late wife Marian) ran a successful meat retail business in Ealing until they retired in 1999. They have two children and four grandchildren. Mike became a Christian following an Alpha course in 1997 and started attending Seer Green Baptist Church. He was baptised in 1999 and elected to be a deacon in 2014 with responsibility for the fabric of the Church. He lives in Gerrards Cross.
Tim has been married to Marion since 1978. They have two grown-up children and two grandchildren. Both Tim and Marion are involved in the worship team, with Marion singing and Tim playing drums. They moved to Seer Green from London in 1984. Tim came to a faith in the church aged 35. Marion was confirmed in the Anglican church in her early teens. Both were baptised at SGBC shortly after moving here as a symbol of their renewed faith and commitment. Tim is currently Church Secretary and oversees the legal and administrative functions in the church. Marion heads up the Mission Team.
